A big step, on the road to cure by integrating healthcare and research.
We do not know the precise causes of most chronic diseases and cancer. Current treatment forms are often insufficient to guarantee a good quality of life for patients. Thorough and wide-ranging scientific research is necessary, since a better understanding of illness can lead to better treatment. Fortunately, such research is occurring. It is noteworthy however, that this research is generally separate from the healthcare process. This means that valuable information is lost every day. Because costs both for scientific research and healthcare are extraordinarily high and barely manageable, this is threatening to become a huge problem for society. It is time for a solution.

Knowledge = cure
CuraRata offers the solution. CuraRata is an innovative care process in which demographic research and healthcare for complex afflictions, such as chronic diseases and cancer, become individualized and take shape within a research environment. With one single goal: prevention and cure.

From efficiency to effectiveness
CuraRata has been developed from the realization that, in addition to increased efficiency in healthcare, there is a great need for increased effectiveness as well. Healthcare with the ultimate goal and this sounds logical of prevention and cure. The time is now for this development. This is apparent in the major technical advances in scientific research and innovative techniques. They should enable us to study the disease process, after which results can be translated back directly to individual patients. Optimal implementation of this so-called translational medicine demands a process reorientation within the current healthcare set-up. This is what CuraRata wishes to achieve.

CuraRata, in brief
CuraRata integrates scientific progress fully into the process of individual healthcare and gives every patient an important role in this process. CuraRata is based on two important principles:

  1. The process is tailored to the individual and requires participation on the part of the patient.
  2. The process is aimed at preventing the occurrence or consequences of the disease. Scientific research will tailor the care of the individual patient on the basis of the anticipated course of the disease. This involves identifying prognostic factors accurately. The result is what we call 'personalized medicine' - a completely tailor-made treatment fully geared to prevention.
